Tobolowsky was originally considered for the role of Jill in "Home Improvement" however she decided to decline due to scheduling conflicts. He then suggested Patricia to producers, and she was able to audition for the role of Jill following the fact that Frances Fisher was passed over. Patricia is a Methodist and a registered Democrat.
